The story of EDELWEIS began long before the brand was born — on a life-changing night when an eleven-year-old boy stepped onto an airplane for the first time. He was leaving Bulgaria and crossing the world toward California, a place spoken of by his young friends as something almost heavenly.
Filled with curiosity and wonder, he didn’t yet know what he was leaving behind. But he felt the irresistible pull of adventure — stronger than the comfort of staying the same. Even though he didn’t know all his friends, family and experiences would be left behind in order for his parents to let him discover a new world. Later, he would realise what this change had done for him and his family — the good and the bad. 阴和阳 (yin and yang).
When the plane lifted into the sky, he turned to his parents with wide-eyed awe and exclaimed:
“We are the greatest!”
In that moment, he discovered the extraordinary magic of travel — the idea that we can rise above the world and arrive somewhere entirely new. That single moment marked the beginning of a lifelong love for the feeling of departure.
